Summary
SMT Production Manager
Location: Hemel Hempstead
The Opportunity:
A leading electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced SMT Production Manager to lead and optimise their SMT operations. This hands-on role is key to driving quality, performance, and continuous improvement in a medium-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily SMT production, including planning, setup, and output.
- Manage SMT equipment, programming, and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvement initiatives.
- Lead inventory control and ensure quality standards (IPC-A-610).
- Support NPI activities and collaborate with engineering teams.
- Develop and lead a high-performing, safety-focused team.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong SMT/PCBA production background.
- Skilled in SMT setup, programming, AOI, and rework.
- Familiar with IPC standards; certification preferred.
- Proficient in ERP systems and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to lead teams and improve manufacturing KPIs.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of 8D, PFMEA, lean tools, and poka-yoke.
- Experience with ATE, multimeters, and other testing tools.
Qualifications:
- HNC/Bachelor's/Master's in Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years' leadership experience in electronics manufacturing.
