Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer (JM2) to join our Engineering & Surveying team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing complex engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring high standards of engineering design and surveying practices. You will oversee the work of engineers and surveyors, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. This is a leadership role that requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management, and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage engineering and surveying projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results within budget and time constraints.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and surveyors, overseeing their work and ensuring adherence to project specifications.
Review and approve engineering designs, plans, and reports, ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and clients to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
Conduct site inspections and surveys, analyzing data and recommending solutions to engineering challenges.
Identify and manage project risks, resolving technical issues and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and surveyors, providing support and training to enhance team performance.
Ensure effective communication across project teams and with clients, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of progress and key issues.
Qualifications:

Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, IEng) is highly desirable.
Extensive experience in engineering and surveying, with a proven track record of managing large and complex projects.
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
Experience in project management, including budget management, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think critically and solve complex engineering problems.
Proficiency in engineering design software and surveying tools.
