Summary
Home Office Digital, Data and Technology designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.
Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP) is part of the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate in the Home Office. MBTP is a Portfolio of around 3,500 dedicated professionals made up of civil servants and suppliers working together to develop some of the most challenging and transformative technology products, supporting critical programmes within the Migration and Borders system. Working closely with colleagues in the Migration and Borders mission, we also support a number of the Home Office's capabilities such as Customer Services, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force. We jointly design services, build, run and sustain them to enable some of the government’s most important strategic outcomes, notably the legitimate movement of people and goods to support economic prosperity.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the PMO function in the Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP).
As a HEO Project Support Officer, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the standards for project/product management within MBTP. You will collaborate and partner with colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure effective Programme and product delivery. You will draw on your in-depth experience of working within PMO to help implement governance processes, tools, methodologies, and controls within delivery teams, sharing your understanding of best practice.
To succeed in this role, you will be proactive and detail oriented, with the ability to work flexibly, focusing efforts and resources on priority activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Supporting the identification and capture of risks, issues and dependencies, working with delivery managers to develop mitigating actions and escalating as appropriate. Facilitating risk and issue workshops, as necessary
- Managing project controls, working with team leads to ensure all necessary reports are in place, accurately completed and submitted within the required timeframes
- Driving quality improvements across reporting, risk, issue, dependency, and planning management
- Providing best practice advice and guidance to stakeholders on the best use of project management disciplines, approaches, and products within a fast-paced technical environment
- Providing secretariat function to the Governance Boards including agreeing agendas, commissioning, and distributing papers and taking minutes
- Assisting with maintaining professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, act as lead point of contact for some external parties
- Assisting in the finance controls of project spend and compilation of budgets
- Working as a member of a project team or in a programme environment, working to tight deadlines, managing priorities, and creating quality deliverables
Working Pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available over 4 working days in a week.
