Make an impact in our Operational Board and Product teams

The Technical Director at Opus is a strategic, client-facing leadership role at the intersection of technology, innovation, and commercial delivery. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on engagement, thought leadership, and the ability to influence both internal teams and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will help shape the future direction of Opus by enhancing our technical capability, strengthening vendor and customer relationships, and driving our mobile, IT, cloud contact centre (CX), and cybersecurity propositions.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

• Lead and continuously evolve the Opus product and service roadmap in alignment with business goals and market dynamics maintained and reviewed in a visible plan
• Be a visible and credible technical leader in front of customers, prospects, and partners
• Collaborate closely with Sales to win new business and expand key accounts through strategic technical input
• Create and chair a Product Board, governing product lifecycle, performance, and positioning. Own managing any required phase outs of Vendors and Products to keep product stack simple and concentrate spend with key partners
• Line Manage proposition leaders, including day to day management
• Continuously monitor indicators of the effectiveness of the product development function, including monitoring of sales performance (uptake) of newly introduced products
• Lead market research activities, gathering information on technological demand (current and future) as well as any challenges that may be solved by product innovation
• Maintain accountability working with Operational Board leaders to develop and maintain technical capability across the organisation to support the strategic technical plan
• Support CRM, automation, and billing system improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience
• Establish and maintain senior technical relationships with strategic vendors and suppliers.
• Represent Opus at industry events and forums, bringing back actionable insights for strategy, positioning, and innovation.

Salary £100-£130k DOE
Net Profitability bonus or KPI bonus dependent on skills experience
Hybrid working for a good work/life balance (2-3 days a week in our Reigate office)


The talents we are excited to see
You will have the following experience/skills:


A minimum of 10 years’ experience in technical roles, ideally across Telecoms, IT, Cybersecurity, or Managed Services
Possesses an outward-looking and market-attuned perspective, demonstrated by a well-established professional network and a proactive approach to understanding industry trends
Proven leadership in a similar capacity, ideally in a fast-growing or mid-sized MSP or VAR
A track record of successful client engagement, with a strong desire to regularly interact with key customers. Proven ability to cultivate close collaborative relationships with commercial teams and key vendors, ensuring technology solutions effectively address evolving client needs and market dynamics
A history of significantly influencing product development, shaping service portfolios, and consistently delivering positive commercial outcomes. The ability to confidently represent Opus at industry events, including speaking engagements and thought leadership contributions, is highly desirable
A highly strategic focus, with a deep understanding of business drivers and the ability to effectively align technology initiatives with commercial objectives
