Summary
Do you have good customer service and communication skills? Would you like to represent the Science Museum Group, engage with our visitors and support with their enquiries?
About us
The Science Museum Group (SMG) encompasses the Science Museum, the National Railway Museum, the Science & Industry Museum, the Science & Media Museum, Locomotion and the Science and Innovation Park. Making us the world's greatest alliance of science museums.
The Group Contact Centre at SMG is often the first point of contact for visitors, business partners, and members of the general public. It handles thousands of inbound enquiries each month on behalf of our six sites. This calls for the highest standards of customer service to maximise the customer's enjoyment of our museums and to bring our collections to life!
About the role
Delivering inspiring service, you will support with all aspects of our customer enquiries, handling inbound calls and messages to help visitors and groups to plan visits, issuing tickets and product sales, and facilitating access to the Group's collection and to its back-office teams and services.
As you progress in the role, you will specialise in different aspects of the contact centre's functions, including handling enquiries and bookings from schools (and other groups) as well as retail and online store customers. You will be supported to expand on relevant skills, and to take pride in representing the Group by being a point of contact.
The team
You'll be joining a team of ten dedicated team members to provide multi-skilled support across all six sites. This collaborative approach ensures that we deliver seamless service and support across all areas.
About you
We're keen to see applications from candidates who bring motivation, empathy and professionalism to every interaction, whether that's face-to-face, online, or over the phone. You'll need to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide range of people, handle enquiries with patience and skilfully use IT systems to find solutions and share accurate information.
An engaged attitude is key, both in problem-solving and in seeking out learning opportunities from colleagues. You'll need to manage multiple tasks efficiently, leaning on your team and supporting each other to ensure things run smoothly. We're also looking for people who are naturally curious and committed to keeping their knowledge of the museum's services up to date, so they can provide the best possible experience to every visitor.
If you showcase impressive customer service skills, thrive in collaborative situations and can efficiently balance multiple duties in a stimulating environment, we would be keen to hear from you!
