A specialist SEMH school in Islington is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to work with students with EHCPs, ASD, ADHD, and complex emotional needs.
This is an invaluable opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Education, or related fields who want to develop hands-on experience in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
The Role:
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement tailored strategies for individual student progress.
• Support students one-on-one and in small groups, helping them build confidence and resilience.
• Use de-escalation and behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive school environment.
• Encourage personal and academic growth, fostering strong relationships built on trust and consistency.
What We’re Looking For:
• A passion for working with vulnerable students and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
• Strong resilience, patience, and emotional intelligence.
• An ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
• Experience with SEN, youth work, mentoring, or mental health support (preferred but not essential).
