Summary
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Ideal candidates should have a proficient understanding of the system of worship in a modern-day church setting.
• Previous experience as pastor or assistant pastor is required.
• Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of congregational.
• Good computer skills, and proficiency with social media.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Possess excellent leadership, organizational, and strong communication skills.
• Must pass criminal background checks.
• Available to work weekends and public holidays.
• Experience in counselling, mentoring and development.
• Demonstrate gifts and calling for ministry, love people, and have a passion for evangelism and outreaches.
• Must have the ability to research the community, utilizing technology and social media to reach the un-churched people in our community.
• Should be able to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas as may be assigned by the resident pastor.
• Exhibit a proven ability to teach and train the congregation into a deeply enriching faith experience.
• Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted Christian prayer life.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The assistant pastor is expected to assist the Resident Pastor in managing the overall affairs of the church. This may include, but is not limited to the following:
• Leading and interacting with members to encourage their spiritual growth through congregational programs, events, and Bible study lessons.
• Developing positive relationships with members and their relatives.
• Displaying a Christ-like approach and lifestyle and ministering regularly to the needs of people in the church and the community.
• Praying for and interceding on behalf of the sick, poor, bereaved, lonely-hearted, the old and other members of the communities that might require such prayers.
• Growing and supporting people’s passion and interest in the knowledge of God and His Word.
• Lead worship, water baptism, and Holy Communion for the members.
• Assist the resident pastor in organising Conventions and Conferences to spread the Christian faith/message.
• Provide counsel, spiritual and moral guidance, and assistance for those in need.
• Assist the lead pastor in preparing and delivering sermons, interpreting doctrines, and articles of faith of the church to the members.
• Instruct and disciple members of the community who seek conversion to the Christian faith.
• Join the resident pastor in providing leadership to the members by overseeing, growing, and coordinating congregational activities.
• Assist the lead pastor and leaders of other ministries/departments in building a growing and spiritually active evangelical team to effectively reach the un-churched within our communities and beyond.
• Participate in staff meetings with the Senior Pastor, Governing Council, Trustee meetings, and other meetings necessary to lead an effective ministry.
