Temporary Works Engineer – Maidstone (4–5 Years’ Experience)
Salary: Competitive and negotiable depending on experience
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an experienced Temporary Works Engineer to join a dynamic and growing team based in Maidstone. With 4–5 years of hands-on experience, you’ll play a key role in delivering complex and varied temporary works solutions across a range of construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a more autonomous role while mentoring others and continuing to develop your expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of temporary works for multiple, diverse projects.
- Prepare high-quality technical drawings and design documentation that are clear and client ready.
- Oversee the planning, analysis, and implementation of temporary works using industry-standard tools and modern software.
- Undertake detailed site visits and surveys, identifying bespoke engineering solutions with a strong safety-first approach.
- Work independently and collaboratively to deliver technically sound solutions within project deadlines.
- Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers, encouraging knowledge-sharing and skills development.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, continually enhancing your skillset and ensuring compliance with evolving standards.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring all temporary works meet CDM Regulations 2015.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Progressing toward Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
- Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience in temporary works.
- Strong working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and general drafting practices.
- Solid understanding of structural behaviour, engineering drawings, and construction methodology.
- Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, including use of structural design and analysis software.
Desirable:
- Experience in supervising or mentoring junior team members.
- Familiarity with 3D modelling and draughting software.
- Exposure to permanent works (civil or structural) would be an asset.
