Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sunderland City Councilandrsquo;s Community Safety Team at a strategic level, leading the development and delivery of innovative responses to key issues that affect our communities.andnbsp;



As Community Safety Coordinator, youandrsquo;ll be responsible for driving forward action plans, projects, and local interventions that tackle crime, antisocial behaviour, and broader public safety concerns. You will lead on one or more priority areas identified in the Safer Sunderland Partnership Plan, working closely with partners to improve outcomes and build safer, stronger communities.andnbsp;



About the Role:andnbsp;

- Working to support the delivery of the Safer Sunderland Partnershipandrsquo;s Community Safety Plan you will play a key role in:andnbsp;andnbsp;

- Leading and coordinating the design and delivery of community safety strategies in line with local and national priorities.andnbsp;

- Providing expert guidance to senior officers, elected members, and partners on legislative and policy developments.andnbsp;

- Developing and implementing innovative local responses to community safety concerns.andnbsp;

- Overseeing the governance and delivery of strategic action plans, ensuring risks are tracked and performance monitored.andnbsp;

- Representing Sunderland City Council and the Safer Sunderland Partnership at operational and strategic forums.andnbsp;

- Producing high-quality reports and performance summaries for internal and external stakeholders.andnbsp;

- Managing commissioned services and monitoring budgets linked to externally funded initiatives.andnbsp;

- Supporting skills development and resilience across the Community Safety Team.andnbsp;

- Driving continuous improvement through analysis of data, performance, and evaluation of partnership working.andnbsp;

- Promoting community engagement, encouraging participation in crime prevention and public safety efforts.andnbsp;



What Weandrsquo;re Looking For:andnbsp;

- Weandrsquo;re seeking a proactive, confident individual with a strong understanding of the community safety agenda, who can inspire and coordinate multi-agency collaboration.andnbsp;



You should have:andnbsp;

- Experience in developing and delivering strategies or action plans in a community safety or public protection setting.andnbsp;

- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including crime and disorder, antisocial behaviour, and community safety governance.andnbsp;

- The ability to analyse data, evaluate projects, and present information in accessible formats for various audiences.andnbsp;

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience of working in multi-agency partnerships.andnbsp;

- Experience in preparing high-level reports, managing budgets, and overseeing commissioned services.andnbsp;

- A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., Criminology, Community Safety, Public Policy), or equivalent experience.andnbsp;
