Do you enjoy supporting and spending time with older children?

A wonderful live-in Family PA opportunity has become available in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. You’ll be supporting a friendly and independent 16-year-old girl, while her parents are temporarily living abroad (they do return home regularly). The young lady attends college and is largely self-sufficient, but she would benefit from a reassuring adult presence and someone to help keep the household running smoothly.

The family is looking for an intelligent, proactive, and approachable person who can stay on top of things and provide a calm and organised home environment.

Role Details:

• Hours: Monday to Saturday, 08:00–18:00, with Sundays off
• On call overnight on Friday and Saturday – an overnight fee will be included in the salary for this
• Some daytime downtime is expected (while still being paid), and occasional evenings out can be arranged with Grandparent support

During term time, your focus will be before and after college, with household duties during the day. In the holidays, childcare responsibilities will increase. Although the girl is at college most of the day, the family prefers to contract full-time hours to allow flexibility in case of illness or holidays.

You’ll support her with:

• Engaging in hobbies and interests
• Providing gentle academic support and college prep
• Encouraging healthy routines, good behaviour and manners
• Helping with college drop-offs/pick-ups and ensuring she’s well prepared for each day
• Planning fun holiday outings (cinema, bowling, zoo trips, time with friends)
• Simply being present—sometimes that’s watching a show together or chatting over tea

Although the family employs a weekly cleaner, in addition to childcare, your responsibilities will include (alongside the family’s office PA):

• Preparing family-friendly, home-cooked meals
• Keeping the home running smoothly between weekly cleans
• Keeping the teen’s areas neat and organised
• Meal planning and grocery shopping (placing orders, buying extras, unloading)
• Running errands (post office, dry cleaning, etc.)
• Managing college and household admin
• Caring for the family’s two friendly dogs

You should be proactive, organised and warm-hearted, with a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll also need to be a confident cook, a strong communicator, and someone who naturally takes initiative. A clean driving licence is required and you will have use of a fully insured duty car.

The ideal person will be honest, friendly and fun to be around—someone the family can trust and welcome as part of their household.

You will have your own bedroom and bathroom on the top floor of the house, with full access to the home gym, swimming pool and sauna.
