Summary

This means that the Cabinet Office’s work is far reaching, providing an interesting and varied workload.

The role sits at the heart of Government, within the Cabinet Office’s Propriety and Constitution Group, reporting into the Cabinet Secretary and the Prime Minister. The work is challenging, fast paced, and cross-cutting, involving a wide range of partners across Government, devolved administrations, Parliament, and Local Government.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Daily monitoring and administration of dedicated mailboxes and casework management systems.
  • Acknowledging enquiries, and where possible, responding to those within 24 hours.
  • Maintaining a comprehensible audit trail for enquiries and casework.
  • Identifying issues arising, analysing those and making sound recommendations for handling to Heads of Teams and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Recognising business as usual requests / queries and handling those without supervision.
  • Escalating sensitive and/or complex enquiries to senior Heads of Teams.
  • Producing regular reports on casework and ensuring that Heads of Team and the Deputy Director have sufficient time to review before distributing.
  • Developing strong and robust relationships with across the Cabinet Office (including within Private Office and No.10).
  • Inputting into business plans and strategies, bringing forward ideas about how the relevant systems can be made more effective and efficient
  • Drafting content for casework and related correspondence.
  • Ad hoc support for the wider Team’s business delivery and short term projects.
