Join us as a Group Media Lead
- We’ll look to you to support the development and delivery of Group Media plans that help protect and promote our Group brand and its strategic ambitions
- You’ll work as part of a fast-paced external communications team across a wide range of topical issues
- This is a high-profile role that offers considerable exposure as well as the opportunity to make a significant impact
What you'll do
We’ll look to you to act as the Lead External Communications Partner across our central teams, such as the People team, our Digital X team and areas such as corporate development. You’ll also support our different Centres of Excellence, including Fraud, Climate and Payments, delivering a proactive plan and managing reactive issues.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams for your functional areas, identifying proactive storytelling opportunities and identifying and managing reputational risks. Along with this, you’ll ensure external communications strategy for the functional areas is consistently aligned to the Group Corporate Affairs strategy.
You’ll build and utilise essential relationships with relevant Corporate Affairs (CA) functions including Internal Communications, Public Policy, Strategy and Planning to develop fully integrated plans.
Additionally, you’ll:
- Build excellent media relationships across business desks, and relevant titles
- Deliver a programme of work against agreed annual budgets, utilising external and internal resources accordingly
- Work in partnership with all areas across the function to best support the delivery of the Corporate Affairs strategy
- Hold the pen on briefings for senior stakeholders, drawing on functional expertise, templates and key message registers to ensure alignment across the enterprise
- Share success by contributing to the regular reporting rhythms for the External Communications team and wider Corporate Affairs as required
- Stay close to emerging media channels and trends to ensure messages reach the right audiences
- Work with the Head of Group Media to deliver major financial announcements and change programmes.
The skills you'll need
We’re on the lookout for a critical thinker who has the ability to work at both a strategic and operational level. You’ll need to be detail oriented and highly organised, with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced and changeable environment.
You’ll also need:
- Excellent media relationships, particularly across business and tech press
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable interpersonal skills, including managing senior stakeholders confidently
- The ability to identify stories and information that resonate with and influence external stakeholders
- To display a collaborative approach to facilitate working in a complex organisation with multiple stakeholders
