Summary

Primary Duties and Areas of Responsibility Working within clinical guidelines and protocols, undertake and record:-Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis-Temperature, pulse and respiratory rate-Weight, height, waist circumference and Body Mass Index-Measurement of legs for compression hosiery-ECGs and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring-Near patient testing, e.g. blood glucose, lipids and INR-Doppler ultrasound measurements (working with a Registered Nurse)-Measurement of airway function (Peak expiratory flow rate and spirometry)-Obtain venous blood samples for investigation-Administer selected vaccines in accordance with the national schedule and legislation-Carry out care of simple wounds and apply dressings-Remove wound closure materials including sutures, clips and staples-Assist with the management of clinical supplies-Participate in quality improvement e.g audit, development of protocols and new services Quality Manage personal time and workload effectively and efficiently Meet deadlines and other performance benchmarks and reporting for the PCN Use significant event analysis to alert staff to areas of potential risk Education, Training and Development To undertake all relevant training as set out by The Personalised Care Institute Engage with and participate fully in all mandatory training and development Take personal ownership of the responsibility to keep up to date with latest guidelines Undertake additional training and development to close potential gaps in skills and knowledge Governance and Risk Ensure the confidentiality and security of all information that is dealt with in the course of performing duties Ensure that all systems for Information Governance, GDPR, and confidentiality is maintained at all times Communication The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to: Communicate effectively with other team members Communicate effectively with patients and carers Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly Confidentiality In the performance of the duties outlined in this job description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to GP practices, patients and their careers, practice staff, GP federation staff and other healthcare workers.
