Crynodeb

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.

Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.

Designing and building brand-new embassies in bustling cities and remote locations. Collaborating with architects, engineers and surveyors to design and reconfigure a high commission’s office space. Developing a secure site’s new CCTV System. This work is as varied and as vital as it gets. Now you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

Designing and building embassies.

Providing a world-class service.

Protect the UK’s security interests.

It all matters.

Shape projects through inspections, design and compliance

As a building surveyor at FCDO Services, you’ll be integral to the delivery of refurbishment and new-build projects that typically range from £250k to £10m in value. By preparing design, specifications and tender drawings, your professional surveyor advice and technical input will drive projects to the finish line. You’ll undertake site inspections, ensuring projects are delivered in line with contract requirements, reporting on progress, budgets and quality. Also, conducting building inspections for the purpose of due diligence studies, condition surveys and to diagnose specific defects. Importantly, you’ll build relationships with stakeholders, contractors and clerks to ensure clear and coordinated project delivery.

You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that professional training, safety requirements and compliance are followed through annually. Plus, you’ll be passionate about keeping up to date with the latest technical standards and legislation for building surveyors.

You will wear multiple hats. Acting as a contract administer/project manager when the size and contract procurement process benefits from a combining of these roles. In circumstances where you have the broadest scope or experience, you’ll be lead designer in multi-disciplinary projects. You’ll be part of cost estimates for project work to include in bids for new contracts. The Surveying Team Leader will rely on your support in recruitment campaigns, town hall events and the development of team apprentices.

We offer flexible working with regular office attendance expected.

Bring your expertise to surveying at FCDO Services

You’re a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with extensive experience in providing professional building survey advice. From beginning to completion, you’ve led the design and construction teams of historic and new building projects. You’re confident addressing clients directly, managing budgets, developing bids for new work, and administering contractor payments on projects. Plus, you’re comfortable using design software, such as AutoCAD and REVIT and have knowledge of standard forms of construction contract, including NEC4.

We’d like for you to have experience working overseas, but this is not essential. Similarly, it would be good if you have an understanding of FCDO Services financial and commercial processes, as well as the operation of the FCDO estate. NEBBOSH/IOSH qualifications or other H&S qualifications would be great to see.

Overall, you bring a passionate, positive approach to work and are proactive about learning more and more about construction technology.
