As an Intern in the Project and Programme Delivery Team at the Environment Agency, you will experience how we have a major impact on reducing the risks to people, households, and businesses from flooding. You’ll also see how we contribute to our industry leading aim of becoming a carbon net-zero organisation by 2030.

An internship will provide the opportunity to see the different stages in project delivery from concept to construction. You’ll learn by working alongside expert engineers and colleagues across Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.

You will have the opportunity to meet graduates on our graduate training programmes and learn about the training, experience and benefits they are gaining.

The duration of the internship will be up to 8 weeks with an anticipated start date of 4th August.

The team

We are the Project and Programme Delivery team (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. The North-West PPD hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing approximately 75 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the delivery of projects within our flood & coastal erosion risk management programme using our framework supplier

Experience/skills required

We’re looking for proactive undergraduates with the innovation and passion to make a difference. Keen to learn, you will be ready to make the most of all the placements and opportunities that the internship offers.

To join us as a summer intern, you should be studying for a degree in civil engineering, geography or a science/environmental related degree with subjects relevant to the management of the environment such as the risk of flooding.
