Do you bring experience of working in a HR environment in an advisory capacity? Are you interested in joining our world-class group of science museums and being based in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside?
About us
The Science Museum Group (SMG) is here to inspire futures. Our People and Culture team have a mission: to build an organisation of empowered and engaged people, who are passionate and proud to work here. As part of our commitment to making SMG a great place to work, we are looking to recruit a People Advisor to join our People and Culture team to deliver an exceptional service to our people.
This is a part-time (21 hours pw) role for a People Advisor to join the team at the Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton, near Swindon, on a fixed-term basis until March 2026.
About the role
As People Advisor, you will provide advice and guidance on all aspects of generalist HR matters, supporting managers primarily at the Science & Innovation Park and promoting best practice. Reporting to the People Partner for the site (based in London), you will provide expert advice on a range of employee relation cases. These would include sickness absence, conduct and capability, complaints, and organisational change. You&©ll work closely with the People Partner team, and the wider People & Culture team, supporting projects focussing on performance management, improving colleague engagement, talent development, organisational development and our Open for All objectives, promoting an open and inclusive organisation.
About you
Joining us, you will bring experience of working in a HR environment in an advisory capacity supporting the management of disciplinaries, grievances, performance, and absence. Knowledge of relevant legislation and current HR trends will be helpful, alongside experience of using HR databases and systems. You will be a strong communicator and relationship-builder, with the confidence and experience to manage various challenges and work independently (while being part of a wider, geographically dispersed People and Culture team).
This is a great opportunity for a People/HR professional to join the dedicated team at our truly unique site in Wroughton. This is a fixed-term role and is a great opportunity for someone wanting to take a step up, try out a new sector or work around other life commitments. We welcome applicants with experience from all sectors; we&©ll train you on our policies and approaches.
Don&©t feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn&©t match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
