Summary
We have a vacancy for a Site Manager (Rail Wagon Fleet Management) for a contract on British Steel, Scunthorpe. We manage a fleet of 90+ hired in wagons for British Steel, who are looking to increase the number of wagons they have to nearer 150 wagons. We organise all maintenance (carried out by wagon owners contractors). We configure wagons to carry rails around the UK and into Europe.
We track wagon movements using Network Rails Systems, and issue daily reports. We have a team of 5 who carry out the wagon set up, basic repairs such as deck repairs, daily inspections of empty wagons.
You will be required to quickly learn the wagon fleet.
Understand the loading standards for various rail lengths, manage the team on a day to day basis, liaise with the customer British Steel, wagon owners and wagon owners contractors as well as Network Rail and Clarke Chapman Facilities Management. The position is very safety orientated, there are very strict rules that apply. We have held this contract for 20 years, the contract has just been renewed for a further 5 years, and we hope to integrate someone into the team due to an increase in workload.
Our current Fleet Manager is taking a step back, but will assist as required until you are fully conversant.
The initial 6 months would be considered probationary
You will be expected to attend site daily, working from the site office. The site hours are 08:00 to 15:30 however you will be required to be available out of hours and for customer support / advice etc. when needed.
We include 25 days paid leave plus all public holidays.
Remuneration is paid monthly on the 25th of the month, in arrears.
