JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a man in my early 70’s living in Barry. I have anxiety and depression and really struggle to express myself. I also have symptoms but no formal diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
I am under the memory clinic as my memory is not what it used to be. I struggle to remember basic things like appointments. When having a conversation I become confused about what to say and become easily side-tracked. Because of this, you’ll have to be patient and give me time to formulate the words and sentence. I might come across as uptight or non-engaging but that’s only because of the anxiety I have when speaking.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Main purpose is to assist me with communication and correspondence either by letter, post, phone call or drop-in appointments.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours per week over 1 shift
Flexible on which day it is
RATES OF PAY
£15.50 per hour

Filling in forms for me and sending them on as required
Occasionally taking me to an appointment
Engaging me in conversation
Monitoring my well-being and being proactive with any support I might need
Batch cooking a meal with me, freezing it for later in the week
Occasionally doing basic shopping
Enjoying a cup of tea with me at home
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
You must have a confident and direct approach in communication
You’ll be confident to make phone calls on my behalf and discuss situations to a suitable resolution
You’ll be able to lead and initiate conversations, actively keeping me engaged
