We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the heart of Southwark. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the academic and personal development of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a nurturing environment.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism
- Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored support plans
- Promote communication, independence, and emotional regulation using strategies such as PECS, visual schedules, or sensory supports
- Encourage a positive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Essential: Previous experience in a UK school setting
- Essential: Proven experience working with children with autism
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Strong understanding of autism-specific strategies and interventions
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
- A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of SEN pupils
