Are you passionate about driving quality in social care? Do you want to be part of a unique organisation where people with lived experience help shape leadership?

Thera Trust, the parent company of the Thera Group, is looking for an Operational Assurance Manager to join our dedicated and forward-thinking team.

At Thera, we do things differently. Our leadership model includes people with a learning disability, empowering them to be leaders in their own lives and society. We need people like you to help make that vision a reality.

About the Role:

This is a remote role with regular virtual collaboration and an average of four in-person service visits per month. Travel across the UK is required, so you must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.

As our Operational Assurance Manager, you’ll help ensure the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of services across the Thera Group. You’ll conduct audits, coach managers, and help services continuously improve through proactive support and insight

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct regular oversight and analysis of quality, assurance, and risk within regulated supported living and care home services (CQC and Care Inspectorate)
  • Use varied methodologies to assess, monitor, and identify risks to service quality
  • Develop and agree quality assurance plans and priorities with the Head of Operational Assurance
  • Visit designated locations as scheduled, typically four per month, to ensure compliance and excellence
  • Produce timely reports outlining levels of compliance and key areas for improvement
  • Provide hands-on support, advice, and coaching to Registered and Operational Managers
  • Work collaboratively with managers to implement improvements and share good practices
  • Analyse digital incident and accident management data to identify quality trends
  • Generate service-level insights to identify areas of excellence and those needing additional support
  • Actively manage identified risks in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Work with the Quality Involvement Team to plan visits and focus areas based on potential or known risks
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and quality improvement
  • Adopt a ‘critical friend’ approach to build supportive, constructive relationships with services

About You:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has leadership or management experience in the health & social care sector
  • Understands statutory requirements (CQC, CIW, Care Inspectorate) and quality standards
  • Can analyse complex data and turn insights into actionable improvements
  • Is confident mentoring and coaching professionals and operational teams
  • Communicates clearly, including translating technical details into practical language
  • Thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys sharing good practice

Ideally, the successful candidate will have:

  • experience in a similar or relevant Social care management level role ( Service Manager, Registered Manager, Operational Quality Lead, Care Governance, Service Quality, etc)
  • Professional qualification in Health & Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, or an allied field
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, including some overnight stays and occasional evening/weekend visits where necessary

What We Offer:

  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • Flexible working Monday–Friday, full-time hours (FTE)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme (support line)
  • Funded support to gain further professional qualifications
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities

Apply now and help us create a future where people with a learning disability are leaders in society.
