Summary
Entitled as Operator under IRMER (IonisingRadiation (medical exposure) Regulations) Have detailed evidence of appropriateongoing professional development (professional portfolio). Annual attendance in the Directoratesmandatory training programme. Provide clinical and professional advice and be able to cope with multiple tasks. Self-organiser able to work under own initiative within proficiencies achieved. Team working skills. Basic knowledge of IT skills. Must have good interpersonal skills as they will have contact and working relationships with patients/public, a wide variety of staff,including all radiology personnel, medical staff, nurses, healthcare professionals, support staff, and visiting equipment engineers. Working with ionising radiation Radiographers must have awareness at all times of radiation protection as both staff and patients must be protected frominappropriate irradiation. You will be required to position & manoeuvre patients and equipment on a daily basis. In any booked or ad hoc list patients may be ambulant; wheel chair bound; or on a stretcher or bed.Transfer to a couch may be necessary. Use of a hoist may be necessary. There is regular exposure to distressing or emotional situations on a daily basis e.g. badly injuredpatients and intoxicated, aggressive or abusive patients and relatives and occasional exposure (fewtimes per month) to highly distressing situations e.g. severe trauma cases, cardiac arrest Frequent exposure to bodily fluids e.g. blood, urine etc, infection risks and occasional exposure to fleas/lice and intoxicated, aggressive or abusive patients and relatives. Ability to prioritise workload as radiographers often work single handed out of hours; stress levels are increased.
