Social Care Worker (Children and Young People)

37 hours per week, Shift working over seven days

Permanent

£33,481- £34,181 / £34,988 - £37,449

£17.35 - £17.72 / £18.14 - £19.41 per hour

The above amounts include shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance

The residential children’s service in Orkney is committed to providing a safe, stable, and nurturing home setting for looked after children. We are seeking a Social Care Worker who will be committed to maintaining a positive and safe environment for children and young people and to working collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies.

Applicants should be willing to work on a seven-day, sleep in shift pattern basis which includes evening, weekends, and public holidays.

You should hold an SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7 and HNC Social Services, or other relevant qualification(s) to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Residential Childcare Services. If you do not hold these, there is a requirement to achieve the relevant qualification(s) within 5 years of appointment.

You must register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Residential Childcare Services within six months of your start date.

In return, you will be provided with regular supervision and training opportunities to enhance your existing skills.

This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children.
