Closing Date: Monday 30th June 2025Join the Finance Function at Sizewell C and play a key role in supporting the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects — the construction of a new nuclear power station. This newly established Reporting Accountant position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, complex programme, working closely with the SZC IFRS Lead and the Financial Control Leadership Team.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory financial statements.Support internal and external audit queries relating to financial reporting.Provide technical accounting expertise, ensuring alignment with audit standards.Prepare timely and accurate fixed asset reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including government and regulators.Support the design, maintenance and control of the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy, timely capitalisation, and compliance with IFRS (e.g., IAS 16, IAS 36, IAS 23).Uphold strong internal controls and assurance processes around asset accounting in line with Managing Public Money requirements.Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and control improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reportingCollaborate with the Regulatory experts to ensure compliance with the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model.Collaborate across Finance teams under the CFO and with the wider SZC project team.Knowledge, Skills & BehavioursTo succeed in this role, you will:Be collaborative, adaptable, entrepreneurial, accountable, innovative, and decisive.Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of IFRS and a passion for research and application in a project environment.Work independently, identifying key issues and seeking out necessary resources.Show strong project management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.Uphold integrity, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to health, safety, wellbeing, and sustainability.Possess excellent numerical and analytical skillsQualifications & ExperienceEssential:Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).Strong understanding and practical experience with IFRS.Experience in regulated infrastructure or energy sectorsKnowledge of public sector finance principles (e.g. Managing Public Money, Value for Money).Proven expertise in fixed asset accounting, capitalisation, project accounting, and R2R processes.Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, QlikView).Desirable:Experience in the broader energy or related sectors.Familiarity with regulatory reporting to DESNZ, OFGEM or HM Treasury, including experience of RAB models.Understanding of investment appraisal and cost-benefit analysis.This role is ideal for a proactive, strategic thinker with a solid foundation in financial principles and a background in technical accounting or audit.
