The Engineering & Standards Team help our local teams to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable assets for a climate resilient future by providing expertise and standards in all aspects of technical engineering and asset management. We seek the best outcomes in everything we do.
The Advisor role will support the delivery of a wide range of projects and programmes of work. The projects we work on relate to Engineering Innovation, Engineering Policy, Civil Engineering Standards & Application, MEICA Engineering Standards, Digital and Data Standards, Delivery Standards and Engineering Projects.
The Advisor will gain experience of working in a great environment of high performing, motivated project teams that include our delivery partners, technical specialists and other partners.
Typically the role will assist with a range of activities such as:
• project planning and setup, scope production, contract management, feasibility assessment, business case development,
• risk management, financial monitoring & forecasting, procurement, tender management and programming/scheduling.
• handling and processing data, creating GIS layers, setting up new project workspaces, manipulating data in SOP or Project Online
• organising and taking meeting minutes, records management
• assisting with stakeholder engagement and supporting activities such as preparing materials and presentations
• supporting key tasks including managing the project delivery process
• developing their understanding of health & safety and technical knowledge
• collaborating across other EA teams including wider asset management and engineering teams across national directorates
• understanding our policies and procedures and tools to support commercial and recruitment activities
The team
You will be part of a supportive and friendly national team in Engineering & Standards within Standards, Asset Management & Engineering in the FCRM Directorate.
The role will be managed by the Team Manager from the Engineering Policy team which is a small team with a wide and varied scope of strategic and reactive work. The role will work across all teams within Engineering & Standards.
Experience/skills required
You must be able to manage and monitor multiple workstreams and experience of project management would be an advantage.
You will be organised with attention to detail. You will be able to develop and maintain information and records. You will be expected to balance competing demands.
Delivering work within a programme and project management framework to time, cost and quality. You must be able to lead multi-discipline virtual teams to deliver results through others.
You will be able to plan and implement effective communication and engagement. You will have excellent communication skills. You must be able to persuade and influence with confidence.
Embracing and adapting to change/new ways of working to improve efficiency & productivity, having engaged/contributed positively in any preceding debate/discussion.
