Outreach SEN Tutor needed in Bromley - September start
About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEN Outreach Tutor to provide tailored, 1:1 educational support to children and young people who are currently not in mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact, working with pupils who often have complex needs and are working below their age-expected attainment levels.
You will play a crucial role in re-engaging learners, building their confidence, and helping them bridge gaps in their education through carefully planned and creative sessions. Lessons are delivered in-person at homes, libraries, or other agreed locations across Bromley.
This role is ideal for qualified teachers or tutors who are looking to move away from the traditional classroom and deliver more personalised, meaningful learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, 1:1 sessions tailored to individual learning needs
- Support students with a variety of special educational needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning or behavioural challenges
- Build strong, positive relationships to help pupils improve confidence and re-engage with learning
- Monitor and report on pupil progress
- Collaborate with parents, schools, and the Prospero support team to ensure effective education plans are in place
Position Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Type: Temporary (ongoing, based on student need)
- Working Hours: Flexible - part-time or full-time opportunities available (1-3 hours per session)
- Hourly Rate: From £25 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months' experience teaching or tutoring in UK schools
- Experience working with children with SEN or complex needs
- A proactive, adaptable, and patient approach to learning
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
Essential Criteria
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
- Two recent professional references, including one from a child-related setting
Why Join Prospero Teaching?
- Access to a dedicated SEN team for ongoing support
- In-house training and CPD, including accredited courses in safeguarding, SEN, and behaviour management
- Opportunities for long-term tutoring placements and ongoing assignments
If you are a compassionate, experienced SEN professional looking to make a lasting difference to a child's education in a more flexible and focused setting, we'd love to hear from you.
