Summary

Your job plan is anticipated to contain 7 programmed activities per week on average, to be carried out on Guys & St Thomas sites. This is an outline programme and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Director within 3 months of your start date. The job plan will be negotiated between the consultant and his/her clinical director at least annually. The initial job plan for this post is planned to be: Number of programmed activities Programmed activities for direct clinical care: Outpatient clinics 3 Administration 1.5 MDM 0.4 Referrals triage 0.7 Supporting programmed activities: Job Planning, appraisal, revalidation, clinical governance, mandatory training 0.75 Medical student lead and academic meeting co -lead 0.65 Total 7 Direct Clinical Care Activities The appointee will be required to undertake 5.6 DCC PAs. There will be a total of 3 outpatient weekly clinics. Two general neurology clinics and a further specialist neurofibromatosis clinic. There will be one weekly session for triage of neurology referrals in addition to attendance at neuroradiology and neurofibromatosis MDT The clinics will be made up as follows: General Neurology 4 New Patients (inc 2WW), and 6 Follow Up Patients Neurofibromatosis clinic - 2 New patients and 6 Follow Up Patients Other Programmed Activities 1.4 SPAs will be dedicated to supporting professional activities, including continuing professional development, teaching of undergraduates, research, audit and clinical evaluation. Proposed timetable Final agreement on the timetable of commitments will be agreed on taking up the post and then reviewed at least annually as part of the job planning process. Essential Criteria Desirable Criteria Where evaluated Professional Qualifications Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise. On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT. Hold MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification On Neurology Register. MD, PhD APP Form GDC/GMC CV Clinical Experience Specific clinical procedures relevant to post including clinical risk. Experience of working in Clinical Neurology. Expertise in neurogenetics APP Form Ref/ Int Clinical Skills Define appropriate level of clinical knowledge for the post. APP Form Ref/ Int Audit Management & IT Defined track record of clinical governance, audit, management and IT skills required. Understanding of principles of audit. Experience in running Neurological audit for long term conditions APP Form Ref/ Int Research. Teaching skill & experience Track record of research, publications/ and obtaining independent research funding. Experience of undertaking clinical trials Higher qualification in Neurological research or allied field APP Form Ref/ Int Leadership / Management skills Communication; Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.
