Summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated registered nurses to join our team on critical care. Applicants would benefit from 6 months acute hospital experience. Previous critical care experience is not necessary but would be desirable.

This vacancy is for Registered Nurses withfull NMC registration in the UK. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) you will not be considered for this role and will be automatically rejected, so please do not apply.

If you are a new registrant, we look forward to welcoming you onto the RCN accredited Preceptorship Academy at the QEH. This programme offers a supportive development transition into your new role as a registered member of the team. If you would like further information, please email the teamPreceptorship@qehkl.nhs.uk

There will be the opportunity for professional development with an established in-house training programme. This is supported by the unit PDN and two mentors. Nurses can be funded to attend study days and supported through the critical care course or degree pathway.

You will have a period of up to 12 weeks supernumerary followed by clinical support from our friendly nursing team.

Informal enquires and visits welcome.

We are looking for innovative and compassionate registrants to join our multidisciplinary team providing specialised high level care to critically unwell patients.

You will need to be high motivated to provide the very best care to a variety of patients. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team.

You will be expected to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care for the patient/s in your care. You will need to learn or be able to prioritise appropriately for patient needs and to support others within the unit.

You will assist in the safe running of the unit by contributing at some level to audit, health and safety, budget management and support and supervision of colleagues, students and visitors to the unit.

We want people who have a vision for implementing change in order to offer a gold standard service to our patients, whilst continuing with your professional development to continue our work in ensuring we maintain and improve our overall good CQC rating.

In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer you the opportunity to be a part of the vision and will provide you with the opportunity to further your knowledge in both the clinical skills required in assessment of our patients with the addition of management of patients with complex needs in order to provide holistic care.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome. We love working here and think you will too.
