About the service and Team

The After School Club runs in 2 locations in the borough - 1 in Central Sutton and 1 at The Grange Play Centre in Beddington Park. The Holiday Club run at The Grange. We offer high quality play opportunities for children aged 4 - 12. We work closely with parent and other agencies to ensure that children are given the right level of support to engage in the activities we offer. We are an all inclusive setting and provide excellent levels of care including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in a mainstream setting.

About the Role and Our Ideal Candidate

To support the provision of a comfortable, safe, stimulating and aesthetically pleasing environment which provides consideration of families ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and consideration for children’s gender and special needs.
To lead on a range of play and learning activities to ensure the delivery of learning objectives.
To support the delivery of all Holiday PlayScheme and after school activities and opportunities, which extend learning, appropriate to the child’s individual needs (this will include off site trips) and to keep all equipment and resources in an organised, hygienic and safe way.
To ensure that the environment, inside and outside, is kept safe, tidy and stimulating at all times and that resources are cared for appropriately and damages are immediately reported to the Lead Practitioner.
Drawing on the expertise of colleagues within the Play Service and outside agencies, to support planning for individual children, working in partnership with parents and local schools that access our service.
Attending team briefings to ensure continuity and service standards are adhered to.
Accessing Training opportunities to support CPD.
Experience of working with children aged 4-12yrs.
Able to manage own time efficiently
Ability to work as part of a team
Warm and caring personality – friendly and approachable to families
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and children, at all levels.
Commitment to equal opportunities for all children and families
Able to accommodate the flexible working patterns that may be required e.g. moving staff from site to site at short notice.
Demonstrable learning and reflection about inequality, inclusion, racism and the experiences of people from black and ethnic minority backgrounds in accessing services.
Excellent people skills, with the ability to build professional supportive relationships with parents and partners alike
