Summary
The post holder will champion service user and carer involvement in the South Glos locality, across community and inpatient services. The post holder will have experience of mental health problems and will be able to draw upon this experience in all areas of their role. The post holder will support the development of service user & carer involvement opportunities and groups for AWP and as part Mental Health. The post holders role includes: Support & work with individual service users & groups with involvement activities and projects within the locality, within a co-production model. Liaise & work with a range of service user and carer led networks and groups across the locality. Support groups and projects & ensure co-production is central. Work with the inpatient team to ensure service user and carer involvement is embedded in practice. Work in line with Trust and NHS England strategies for service user involvement, engagement, participation and social inclusion. Identify service user and carer representatives who are willing to be involved in South Glos Locality projects/groups/meetings and keep details of the service user representatives on a Trust database. Support the development and delivery of training programmes with a range of service users and carers. Identify strategies and ways of working that bring forward the views of service users and carers that are traditionally marginalised, and that represent a diverse range of communities. Advise and work with the locality to develop a plan for service user involvement, this may involve collating information and/or informing the locality. Work with the locality and their staff to develop best practice in service user involvement and embed this as part of the mainstream practice. This will include delivering service user and carer involvement training to staff, advising and working with staff to measure the outcomes of these initiatives e.g. service user evaluation tools. Participate in Trust wide groups, initiatives and activities to bring forward service users perspectives; this will include giving presentations. Link in with other locality Involvement Coordinators and the Trusts Patient Experience team to ensure consistency around service user and carer involvement across the Trust.
