Summary

The post includes: To undertake physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients with mental health needs on inpatient wards.To receive referrals from a range of inpatient services and prioritise physiotherapy actions and assessment as required.To work with patients to identify physiotherapy goals as part of the overall care plan.To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the patient, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals. To monitor and evaluate treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.To gain consent or assess patients capacity and act in best interests under the Mental Capacity Act at all times.To communicate effectively with patients, family members, carers, team members and other agencies.To use enhanced communication skills in situations where there are barriers to understanding, effectiveness or compliance.To actively participate as a member of multidisciplinary team meetings and take an active role in decisions with regard to each patients assessment, treatment and onward planning. To review and reflect on your own practice and performance through effective use of clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal. To develop and work towards agreed objectives in order to develop physiotherapy and personal skills .To apply acquired skills and knowledge of professional practice in order to maintain fitness to practice as a physiotherapist.To maintain a professional portfolio for CPD, recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities. To contribute to the CPD of the physiotherapy team and the AHP inpatient team.
