Summary

Our public sector client is currently recruiting temporary ongoing a Family Time Support Worker to provide support to qualified support working in carrying out their responsibilities when working with children & their families.

Monday - Friday 9-5

£12.31 per hour

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To co-work and work in partnership with colleagues and other professionals when carrying out specified tasks under the direction and supervision of a social worker.

  1. To assist with practical arrangements which will facilitate contact between parents and children who are subject of child protection procedures or Looked After by the Trust.Establish a rapport and engage with families and children;
  2. Objectively observe interaction between them;
  3. Be prepared to negotiate with families in difficult situations to achieve a calm environment;
  4. During family-time, promote appropriate care of the child and appropriate play, suitable to the child's age, utilise the use of role modelling to support if required/ appropriate; this comprises educative work with parents and children to improve the quality and experience of family time;

  5. Ensure at all times that the child/young person's safety and well-being are paramount.

    1. Transport children/young people to and from family-time venues (only when there are reasons why a carer is unable to provide transport and other methods of transport are not appropriate);

    1. Immediately report any concerns of a safeguarding or child protection nature with Manager/SW in accordance with policy and procedure that may require terminating the family-time. Also record on the Observation Tool being used;

Essential Criteria (Must be demostrated on cv)

  1. NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in a care-related subject* and 1 years' experience working in a social care role

OR

NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in a care-related subject and 2 years' experience working in a social care role

OR

4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) and 3 years' experience working in a social care role.

*For those who do not hold Level 3, should be willing to complete Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care Support

2. Be registered with the NISCC on the Social Care part of the register at the time of appointment or be eligible for immediate registration within a reasonable timescale prior to taking up post.
