Start Date: As soon as possible
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30 (term-time only)
Salary: £84.05 – £90 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
Contract Type: Temp to perm
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join an all-through SEN school near Welwyn Garden City. This school supports pupils aged 4–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and behaviours that challenge.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting secondary-aged pupils in a specialist setting to make a real difference.
About the School
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment for children and young people with complex needs. Staff work closely with therapists and families to deliver tailored, holistic support that helps every pupil grow academically, socially and emotionally.
Main Duties
-Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils, mainly at secondary level
-Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils with SLD and ASD
-Support the delivery of individualised lessons and behavioural strategies
-Promote independence and emotional regulation
-Assist with personal care and mobility when required
-Contribute to a calm, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
What We're Looking For
-Experience supporting young people with SLD, ASD, or behaviours that challenge
-Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils
-Calm, proactive and resilient attitude
-Good communication and teamwork skills
-Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive practice
-Personal or professional experience welcome (volunteering, family, school settings)
-Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
