Summary

Work within the Urology Department at Beckenham Beacon to deliver and further develop the service. Act as a positive role model to the nursing team in the delivery of care. Assist and supervise junior staff, supporting them in assessing, advising, planning, and evaluating patient care in the OPD. Be fully involved in the health education of patients and relatives, identifying every opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle. Demonstrate clinical decision-making skills and take responsibility for decisions made. Ensure referrals are made to the appropriate professionals for further assessment or treatment where indicated. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure information is accurately conveyed to patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team. Undertake individual responsibilities as delegated. Take responsibility for the correct administration and safe custody/storage of drugs, where appropriate. Show regard for patients cultural and religious beliefs. Respect each patients privacy, dignity, gender, and sexuality. Acknowledge personal limitations in patient care and seek guidance from senior staff members. Participate in nursing audits, Essence of Care initiatives, and observations of care. Ensure mandatory training is up to date and comply with Trust and departmental policies regarding sickness reporting and annual leave. Maintain a professional standard of conduct and dress, in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust policies. Demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice and participate in Trust-approved research projects within the department. Assist in developing guidelines for best practices and service standards. Support the development of junior nursing staff through both formal and informal teaching. Maintain accurate records and actively manage and reduce patient risk. Report and document adverse incidents in accordance with Trust policy. Attend mandatory study sessions, accepting responsibility for maintaining agreed levels of competence and actively participating in your own performance appraisal. Assist in the daily management of the team to ensure high-quality service delivery for patients and alignment with Trust objectives. Keep knowledge up to date in light of current research and practice. Act as a practice supervisor for student nurses, adaptation nurses, and HCAs. Act as a preceptor/mentor to newly qualified staff.
