Summary

Home Office Digital, Data and Technology designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a Programme Management Office (PMO) function in the Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP)

You will be responsible for defining and maintaining the standards for project/product management within MBTP. You will collaborate and partner with colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure effective Programme and product delivery. You will draw on your in-depth experience of working within PMO to help implement governance processes, tools, methodologies, and controls within delivery teams, sharing your understanding of best practice.

To succeed in this role, you will be proactive and detail oriented, with the ability to work flexibly, focusing efforts and resources on priority activities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the PMO to support the delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Championing the use of best practice project management standards and processes.
  • Managing the PMO team and support the Delivery product teams in the identification, recruitment, development, deployment and reassignment of resources throughout the project and/or product lifecycle.
  • Establishing processes and standards for managing risks and issues. whilst ensuring alignment with central Portfolio Management Office and wider Home Office.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of controls and ensure that recommendations from external reviews are acted upon.
  • Identifying common capabilities and opportunities for linking up, re-using and sharing of methods and resources between delivery areas.
  • Identifying, developing and sharing best practice project/product management processes, tools and templates and benchmarks against industry standard.
  • Providing direction and guidance to the project team.
  • Line Management.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, job-share and compressed hours are available.
