Summary
A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) at a boxing alternative provision supports the academic, emotional, and behavioural development of young people who are disengaged from mainstream education. Working closely with teaching staff and mentors, the HLTA helps deliver a blended curriculum that combines classroom learning with practical, boxing-based activities. They may lead small group sessions, support literacy and numeracy catch-up, manage behaviour positively, and adapt learning to meet individual needs. With a trauma-informed and relational approach, the HLTA plays a key role in helping pupils re-engage, build confidence, and make progress in both their education and personal development.
