The Librarian and Research Tutor works across multiple teams with the central aim of developing our pupils’ access to resources and spaces for independent reading and study, and opportunities for and engagement with research. This is a pupil-facing role where you will work closely with our Sixth Form team supporting the Sixth Form programme as well as our Future Scholars programme and other research and super-curricular opportunities across all year groups.
The successful candidate will improve the provision and running of the Library, ensuring it provides a well-resourced, dynamic learning environment which allows pupils to interact with information resources in a mature and considered way.
The post holder will support with a number of research-rich opportunities. This includes leading taught sessions for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and regularly liaising with and guiding pupils who are undertaking the EPQ. We have Future Scholars across all year groups, and the post holder would support with projects and events such as the many debating opportunities, academic reading groups, and other research and public speaking projects to help instill academic aspirations in our students from the younger years upwards. The role will also require preparing training and materials for students to support their research activities, from how to formulate a research question to the most effective presentation strategies.
The post holder will also be an important figure in advising pupils in their pursuit of higher education, helping coordinate activities for early entry students (medicine, dentistry, Oxbridge), and will play a significant role in supporting our Sixth Form pupils as they work to complete their Pimlico Diploma enrichment projects.
