An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Haemodialysis Unit for a Band 5 nurse to apply for a 12 month secondment as maternity leave cover.We are looking for a positive, hardworking, and motivated nurse with an interest in nephrology to join our friendly team on a 37.5 hours per week basis.As one of only 13 centers in the UK delivering vital haemodialysis to children, this role will give you the opportunity to become a clinical expert. In addition, our home haemodialysis service is up and running and we are proud to be the first unit in the North of England to offer a home haemodialysis training programme and ongoing support for our patients.
The successful candidate will be based in the Haemodialysis Unit and will work closely with the Team Leader, Home Therapies specialist practitioners and Nephrology team for ongoing development of the nephrology service. You will gain exposure to all renal replacement therapies to improve patient care by providing easy access to expert knowledge and advice 6 days a week.
You will support children with renal disease and their families from the time of diagnosis and throughout their treatment ensuring patient safety and patient experience. An interest/experience in the treatment and management of children requiring renal therapies is
Knowledge and understanding of the Band 5 job description will be evident and you will be able to discuss this role in the context of how you would apply yourself to it.
The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. the post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the
maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
