Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice in a Stunning Market Town
Are you a veterinary surgeon with at least two years’ experience looking for a role that combines clinical excellence, work-life balance, and a supportive, independent team? Come and join my client in one of the south of England’s most vibrant market towns, home to a world-famous racecourse and surrounded by glorious countryside.

This modern, independent practice opened just last year and is already thriving. It boasts state-of-the-art facilities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, and a fully integrated Idexx lab. Purpose-built surgical suites support both in-house procedures and visiting specialists in ophthalmology, soft tissue, and orthopaedics.

The practice is part of a pioneering group of thirteen independent clinics that has been reimagining what it means to work in veterinary care for over fifteen years. They’re not corporate, not focused on profits over people – and not vulnerable to the uncertainty faced by small independents. Instead, they offer the best of both worlds: security, innovation, and a genuinely team-focused culture.

You’ll be working a shared rota, currently sole charge alongside the practice owner, a part-time vet, and visiting surgical teams. There’s a growing caseload and plenty of variety, plus exceptional backup from across the group: 20 surgeons, 70 support staff, and on-site nurses always ready to lend a hand. Collaboration is at the heart of everything they do.

What sets them apart? They’ve consistently led the way in staff pay, annual leave (up to six weeks!), and clinic investment. Every ten years, every site is fully refurbished. Every penny earned is reinvested into the people and places that make the business thrive. Flexible rotas, no on-call, no Sundays or bank holidays, and a full-time setup that means just four days a week and every other Saturday morning – or choose part-time if that suits you better. They’ll tailor the role around you.

This is more than just a job. It’s a chance to live and work in a town packed with charm, character, and quality of life – with top schools, cultural gems, and a welcoming community right on your doorstep.

Sound like your next adventure? Let’s have a chat – informal, no pressure – and see if it’s the right fit.

The Package:

• Excellent salary between £50,000and £80,000 DOE and hours
• Up to six weeks annual leave
• Loyalty bonus scheme
• Staff recruitment reward scheme
• CPD encouraged with a generous budget
• RCVS and VDS fees paid
• Staff animals treated at cost
• Staff discount
