Summary
Technical Process & Compliance Manager – Human & Pet Food Expertise
Nottingham | £45,000 – £50,000 DOE | Fast-growing Food Manufacturing Business
Are you a compliance-savvy, food safety obsessive who’s ready to join a mission-led food company doing things differently? I’m recruiting for a Technical Process & Compliance Manager to help us maintain impeccable standards across both human and pet food legislation as we scale our fresh meal business for dogs.
You’ll be joining a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team where transparency, quality, and safety aren’t just tick boxes – they’re part of the product promise. This role is central to ensuring we're always audit-ready, standards-led, and ahead of the game when it comes to dual compliance.
• Lead site-wide compliance across human and pet food legislation (FSA, Defra, APHA, EU regulations).
• Own food safety systems, including HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and allergen controls.
• Maintain QMS documentation, SOPs, risk assessments, and cleaning schedules.
• Ensure site-wide audit readiness – you'll be the go-to person for inspectors, auditors, and external authorities.
• Oversee Health & Safety systems, acting as the HSE lead on-site (NEBOSH/IOSH required).
• Drive process improvement, identify risks, and ensure best-in-class hygiene and safety culture across all operations.
• Manage meat sourcing and specifications, including supplier approvals and raw material documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with QA, Production, Engineering, and Ops teams to embed compliance into every corner of the business.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Solid experience in food manufacturing compliance – ideally across both human and pet food.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and BRCGS standards.
• Familiarity with FSA, Defra, APHA, and EC No 183/2005 regulations.
• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualifications.
• Confident communicator – able to train teams, write clear documentation, and hold the room during an audit.
• A doer, not just a strategist – you're just as comfortable troubleshooting on the floor as you are building systems behind the scenes.
This isn’t just a technical box-ticker. You’ll be building systems that meet the standards of human food – for pets. We’re not cutting corners, and that means you’ll have the freedom (and responsibility) to set a new benchmark for food safety and compliance in the industry. With exciting growth plans ahead, including retail and export, this is a chance to grow a function alongside the business.
Salary & Benefits
• £45–50k salary DOE
• Hybrid mix of strategic and hands-on work
• Full private healthcare (top-tier AXA cover)
• £250 L&D budget + £100 wellbeing budget
• 28 days holiday + your birthday off
• Ability to sell back unused holiday
• Option to work abroad 2 weeks a year
• Quarterly socials, team lunches, and internal learning sessions
• And of course... discounted dog food
