Casual Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a 92 year old woman living in Cross Inn, Llantrisant. My mobility is limited so I have suitable aids around the home to help get around, for example a wheelchair and stairlift.
I’m a friendly person who enjoys good and informed conversations. I enjoy watching TV.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This is a casual position to provide respite for my son who is my main carer. Your role will be based in my home to support me with daily living tasks and maintain independence as far as possible.
HOURS OF WORK
As and when required, with sufficient notice you will cover the main PA when she is on leave/sickness
12 hours per week
6 hours on a Saturday, 6 hours weekday.
RATES OF PAY
£15.50 per hour
TASKS WILL INCLUDE
Providing a sitting service when my son goes out
Engaging me in conversation, making and enjoying a cuppa with me
Light domestic assistance as requested, for example wiping down kitchen worktops or mopping floor
Assisting me in my wheelchair to the toilet. I do not require hands on support to use the toilet
Assisting me to have a shower twice a week. I have a walk-in shower
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone who can have an easy and flowing conversation with me
A sensible person with a mature outlook
Although experience isn’t essential it will help if you are naturally caring and empathetic
Someone who can commit to a job, is reliable and friendly
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
