As a Data Insights Product Management Lead, you will hold a senior role within the APHA Data & Information Unit and will play a pivotal role in implementing and embedding the APHA Sustainable Futures Strategy setting out its vision for the future. A key part of this vision is for APHA to become an organisation that is enabled and strengthened by its use of data that will ensure its ability to identify and respond to new and emerging threats, to manage risk and to deploy our people and resources effectively and sustainably.

In this role you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the corporate scorecards and dashboards, which are used to track performance. The role provides an opportunity to work with senior leaders across a newly established Data and Information Unit to transform the way APHA approaches performance and insight. The role will involve working with specialists and IT professionals in a programme of work aiming to modernise the collection, sharing and use of various data sources in preparedness for producing agency wide performance and scorecard MI reports, with associated insights and visualisations.

You will be required to carry out duties that commensurate with the grade and purpose of the role including, but not limited to, the following:

Strategy and Planning

  • Create an APHA wide data insight transformation roadmap; getting buy in and support from senior leaders to improve data insight maturity.
  • Ensure all data related activities are delivered in accordance with policy, business plans and performance targets and support the delivery of continuous improvement, efficiency, and value for money.

Leadership and Managing Change

  • Build and maintain a team of data specialists and provide day to day line management to direct reports.
  • Increase the uptake of best practice and improve the way data is managed, exchanged, and used within APHA.

Service Delivery

  • Understand agency requirements and lead the development of automated dashboards to support and improve data and insight maturity levels across APHA ensuring strategic objectives are achieved and operational plans delivered.
  • Respond quickly to requests for data analysis/performance information; present information in the most meaningful and engaging way, ensuring complex information is easily understandable, appropriate to the audience and informs service improvement and decision making.

Resource and Performance Management

  • Promote and drive a data quality culture and improvements in cleansing and structure leading to an improvement in the experience and outcomes for our customers and staff.
  • Be accountable for the performance, resource, and budget management of the Data Insights Product Team.

Stakeholder Engagement / Management

  • Work with managers within APHA to raise awareness of data insights and how this can be used to monitor quality and drive improvements in services.
  • Provide expert advice to staff at all levels within APHA on issues relating to data insight and analysis ensuring that the advice provided is communicated in such a way as to facilitate an appropriate level of understanding.
