Inclusive Learning Lead Officer

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Inclusive Learning Lead Officer - 29.6 hours (0.8) Fixed Term to end July 2026

The role of the Inclusive Learning Lead Officer is to ensure that all assessments to identify the support needs of our high needs and SEND learners are carried out effectively and in a timely manner.

This can be assessment of support needs leading to the production of the Inclusion Plan, which identifies an individual's difficulties and strategies to enable them to overcome these barriers to learning. It is shared with relevant tutors and support staff prior to the young person starting their programme of study. Assessment for exam access arrangements ensures that young people receive the correct level of support that is appropriate to access exams and other assessments fairly and effectively. Screening for dyslexia enables us to identify whether a young person's needs are likely to be due to dyslexia and identify strategies for the learner to help themselves and for teachers and support staff to help them also.

The Lead Officer is also highly involved with statutory reviews for high needs learners, transition processes for current and prospective learners, looking after a caseload of high needs learners and much more. This is an important role to enable the college to meet their responsibilities in relation to high needs learners with an Education, Health and Care Plan and SEND learners of all ages.
