As part of our public service reform and devolution journey we are stepping up our ambitions for public services and prevention and are looking for someone who has a firm grasp of the challenges facing public services, can work across a breadth of policy areas (social care, health, employment, housing, children, adults, communities etc) and can link the national and GM context to frontline delivery.
The role will provide high quality policy leadership and development and support GMs strategic direction around the delivery of public services, public services reform & prevention as part of GM Live Well. The post holder will be responsible for the development of GM-wide policy in relation to public services, prevention and Live Well GM but with a focus on formal public services and system enablers at a GM and national Level.
The role will work across all GM localities but will also support outward facing work relating to public services & reform across MCAs and future devolution around prevention and public services.
This will include contributing to delivery of the GM Growth and Prevention Plan and Live Well delivery Plan. The post holder will also work as part of the wider Live Well GM team and wider Reform Directorate and take a lead on key aspects of implementation which translate strategic ambitions into real life change on the ground.

Hybrid working
This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme. As part of our commitment to ‘Build Back Fairer’ in Greater Manchester following the Covid-19 pandemic, we have evolved our management methods by trusting and empowering staff to deliver their work in the best way that suits the business and their individual needs, and supports health and wellbeing. Our hybrid working policy sets out a flexible approach, combining attendance at our [Manchester city centre office / Fire and Rescue service HQ in Swinton / other location] with remote working, typically from home; the location of work is primarily dictated by the needs of the business: ‘Do what is right for you and the business on that day’. If appointed to the role you will work with your manager to agree and regularly review the best working pattern for you, your team and your work.
