This inclusive and forward-thinking three-form entry mainstream Primary School in Chelmsford is seeking a passionate and experienced SENCO / Assistant Head to join their senior leadership team from September 2025. Rated "GOOD" by Ofsted, the school is well-known for its nurturing ethos, inclusive practice, and commitment to professional development.
The school is looking for an individual who has a proven track record of leadership within SEND and is confident in supporting children with a range of additional needs. You will be responsible for leading the SEND provision across the school and supporting staff with strategies, interventions, and EHCPs. The successful candidate will also have assistant head responsibilities and be a key part of the SLT.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
- SENCO / Assistant Head
- Leadership responsibility for SEND provision and member of the SLT
- Monday 2nd September 2025 start
- Initially 1-year contract (with potential to become permanent)
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Competitive pay scale - L1 to L3 (dependent on experience)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- QTS and National SENCO Award (or equivalent) - essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Primary leadership or SENCO role
- Experience of writing and managing EHCPs
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
