AA Euro Group is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a leading Main Contractor delivering prestigious residential and commercial schemes valued between £100M–£150M. This is a site-based position requiring strong commercial management capabilities and previous experience working on site for a main contractor.
Key Responsibilities
• Report to the Surveying Director, Project Director, and Project Manager
• Liaise with Design Teams to ensure accurate execution of project specifications
• Build and maintain strong relationships with client representatives
• Attend and contribute to regular site meetings
• Keep internal stakeholders updated on project and cost status
• Prepare and review tender enquiries and analysis
• Assist with estimating and tendering in collaboration with head office QS team
• Negotiate cost-effective project pricing and fixed-price packages
• Lead pre-award meetings with subcontractors alongside the construction team
• Manage subcontract procurement and track package performance
• Monitor and issue contra charges where applicable
• Oversee re-measurement and valuation of subcontractor works
• Process interim and final subcontractor payments
• Prepare monthly subcontractor payment certificates
• Maintain and update variation logs with support from junior QS
• Issue interim payment applications and track receipts
• Support final account preparations at project close-out
• Track and report project costs using construction software
• Attend monthly commercial reviews and cost meetings
• Provide accurate monthly cashflow forecasts
• Stay up to date with market conditions and industry trends
• Ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and BOQs
• Extract accurate quantities from design documents
• Prepare and issue supplier and subcontractor enquiries
• Ensure timely receipt of accurate quotations
• Manage cost reporting across multiple workstreams
• Maintain high standards in budget control and forecasting
• Deliver clear, concise commercial reports to stakeholders
• Support junior QS team members and provide mentorship
• Contribute to a collaborative and positive site environment
Requirements
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with a main contractor in the UK
• Strong background in managing valuations, variations & final accounts
• Experience in high-end residential and/or commercial projects essential
• Proficient in MS Office and QS software systems
• Excellent communication, reporting, and negotiation skills
• Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and within a wider project team
