Stockroom is an exciting new cultural and creative space with a year-round creative programme that will encourage a wide range of people, both local and from further afield, to use and enjoy the space.
Stockroom is set in the heart of the town in Merseyway, its busy shopping area. Adding to the current cultural offer in Stockport, it will offer residents and visitors a place to drop in for cultural events and creative activities that are either free or bookable for a small charge.
Stockroom is also the new home for Stockport’s main library and heritage archive. Stockroom
Studios will be a space to enjoy a year-round programme of live performances and creative engagement activity with a great café on hand, providing the opportunity to study, play and be sociable.
We are looking for warm, creative, open-minded, open-hearted individuals to join our team.
You will be our first point of contact with Stockport residents, sharing with them our relentlessly optimistic outlook, our fearless attitude to trying new things and our kind approach to people and the planet.
Your Role
No two shifts will be the same! As part of the Stockroom team, you'll play a key role in the successful development and management of this amazing new space in our Town Centre.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing the operational delivery of the business plan for Stockroom to reach our goals.
- Working with the service lead to manage the budget and provide accurate financial reporting for Stockroom including analysis of profit margins and controlling costs
- Ensuring the creative aims and ambitions of Stockroom are fully maximised by collaborating with council teams - including library, archive, heritage and arts and culture teams and members of the cultural and voluntary sectors.
- Overseeing in-house events and help to curate an exciting programme throughout the year.
- Implementing the safe and accessible delivery of events and activities for all residents in accordance with H+S legislation including completion of risk assessments, initiating of evacuation procedures, delivering first aid and dealing with unanticipated hazards.
- Liaising with partners and contractors including Facilities Management, Food and Beverage
- Provider on the everyday operations and delivery of events and activities at the venue.
- Ensuring guests to the venue have an excellent experience and receive the highest level of customer service.
- Overseeing the performance of the venue’s management and staff.
- Complying with the team rota to work 5 days out of 7 including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Actively participate in the venue’s creative programming and work with the creative/events/marketing teams.
- Be up to date with creative and cultural programming taking place in Stockport, Manchester, the region and beyond.
About You
We are looking for a warm, open-hearted, open-minded individual to join our team. You are friendly and reliable and thrive in a lively atmosphere. You will have experience of managing a venue, delivering events and leading a team to succeed. Experience of opening a venue and developing standard operating procedures is desired but not essential as you will be willing to learn and develop in the role.
You have a commitment to environmental sustainability, delivering climate and budget friendly solutions and services. You are a team player, enthusiastic and always put people first.
