Days and Times required:
6 hours per week, usually worked on a weekend, but in school holidays the day will vary. The hours of work will vary and will be agreed mutually in advance________________________________________
Role Summary:
I am seeking a personal assistant/support worker to support my 17 year old son for 6 hours per week. This role is to assist and take him on days out and with planned activities. He enjoys going on days out at the zoo, farms, going to the cinema and generally having fun. You will be required to transport the young man to his activities, so access to a car with appropriate business insurance cover and full clean driving licence is required.
My son has Autism, learning disabilities, sensory processes disorder and hypermobility syndrome. I am looking for someone with demonstrable experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour to support him.
This role is working in a non-smoking household.

The kind of person I am looking for is someone who:
• Has experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour – this is essential and must be demonstrated on your application
• Is familiar with communication tools such as Makaton and picture exchange cards, this is desirable but training can be given for the right person.
• Driver essential.
• Non smokers
• Will promote and support my son’s confidence and independence, and support and enable him to do things.
• Has a person centred approach and a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve their goals.
• Is able to follow instructions and will establish a professional standard of care, to be maintained at all times.
• Will not use their personal mobile phone at work unless in an emergency.
• Is trustworthy, kind, punctual and reliable.
• Is patient and supportive with good listening skills and an ability to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
• Maintains confidentiality and respects the privacy of my family and I, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
• Is able to work flexibly, adapting to the variable requirements of this role as required.
• Can drive and has access to a car with business insurance included. Mileage when used within the hours of work will be paid for.

Task and duties, to include any or all of the following:
Help to stimulate and support active play and interaction, by taking my son out on social visits, including but not limited to, trips to the zoo, farms, the cinema etc., promoting fun, activity, social inclusion and interaction

To support him with going to the toilet when required.

Provide one-to-one care and attention at all times, to keep my Son safe

Raise awareness of danger to my Son in his current surroundings

You have a duty to report defects and/or hazards which may give rise to an accident

Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed

• The role is dependent upon a DBS, Right To Work checks and two references
• This role may vary from day to day and you may be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
• You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents, defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident and you must ensure that you act in my best interests and adhere to keep me safe at all times.
