A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
We areseekingto recruitahighly motivated, compassionateindividual whoisaqualifiedAssociate/Assistant Practitioner in Mammography.
You will need experiencein performing mammography working withpatients as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme, Symptomatic service (2 week wait GP referral), Surveillance and Family History programme.The successful applicant will need to have a passion for working to the highest standard to join our dedicated highly trained team andhold a manual full UK driving licence.
A training post will beconsideredand the successful candidate will be provided with specialist mammography training to achieve the Mammography Associate Apprenticeship award through an approved provider. For those who are on Band 3 or below this post will be a Band 3 Training post with progression to Band 4oncompletion.
Our breast screening programme is one of the largest in the East Midlands and one of the largest in England. Our Breast Screening population is 160,000. In addition to the screening activity our symptomatic and surveillance demand is approximately 17,000 per year.
We are a centre that is actively involved in clinical trials and have successfully securedTomosynthesisalong with Contrast Enhanced Digital Mammography.

To undertake routine mammography examinationswithin Breast Imaging according to protocols and own scope of practice. To adhere to departmental regulations with regard to (IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and local rules of practice.
To plan, organize and priorities ownpatientworkload.
To perform regular quality control tests on the X-ray equipment (mobile and static) and ensure that the results are accurately recorded.

• To performaccuratestandard 2-view mammography examinations in a caring and sensitive manner. To be able to position women and adapt technique for mammography with varying body shapes and disabilities.
• To work within the designated Scope of Practice for a Mammography Associate / Assistant Practitioner Ability todemonstratecompliance with the departmental work instructions
• To take part in regular image analysis and mammography audit sessions tomaintaina technical repeat rate in line with NHSBSP standards.
• To take part in regular local and national client satisfaction surveys for screening clinic
• To provideahigh qualitymammographic service, including the screening, symptomatic breast clinics and surveillance and family history programme to the women of Leicestershire and Rutland
• Adhere to theNHSBSP guidelines including monitoring of the equipment and quality standards
• To prepare all mammographic equipment prior to using to ensure that equipment is working correctly and safelyfollowing agreed protocols
• Ensure that women attending for Breast Imaging are interviewed in theappropriate mannerdisplaying an encouraging attitude to breast imaging and that women are supported and guided through the mammographic process.
• Manage the mammographic workflow
• Assistin the department of systems of work including operational policies and procedures
• Toinitiateand make recommendations towards changes in clinical practice for new ways of working
• To adhere to the NHSBSPQuality Assurance Guidelines for Radiographersandmaintainhigh standardsof clinicalexpertisein all aspects of Breast Imaging.
• To keep abreast of modern imaging techniques by furtherappropriate trainingand tobe responsible fortheir Continuous Professional Development
