Summary

Job Vacancy

We are looking for an experienced Reward Specialist to join our HR team on a fixed term basis to lead, develop, maintain and advise on reward strategy. Aligned to workforce plans, you will be responsible for the creation of a reward framework which ensures compliance with employment and equalities legislation and meets the future needs of the Council.

You will work with us on key projects to achieve our 3-year short term action plan as part of our Workforce Strategy 2024-2034 which has ambitious strategic aims. Full details of these are available in the recruitment pack.

Excellent communication skills, organisation skills, a flexible approach and a positive can-do attitude are essential for success. You must have a degree level qualification (or equivalent), preferably in the field of management, business analysis, human resources or other relevant discipline demonstrating the ability to research, analyse and complete reports.

You must have more than 5 years’ experience of working in a professional management consultancy at a senior level with evidence of delivering a reward-based project, be competent in project management, analytical, numerical, and presentation skills. Advanced MS Excel skills are also critical to success.

KNOWLEDGE

A degree level qualification (or equivalent), preferably in the field of management, business analysis or human resources or other relevant discipline demonstrating the ability to research, analyse and complete reports is essential.

Membership of the relevant professional institute, such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is desirable.

Substantial experience of more than 5 years of working in a professional management consultancy at a senior level with evidence of competence in project management, management reporting, analytical, numerical, presentational and interpersonal skills coupled with an understanding of job evaluation principles and the application of job evaluation schemes is essential. They must participate in corporate internal working groups to provide reward expertise on the reward implications of operational initiatives or legislative changes.

Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills are essential for this role.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £46,511.92 per annum.
