Summary

HR Manager - £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
We are Mantra Learning, the UK’s leading Logistics learning and development organisation. We are an Ofsted grade 2 independent training provider who have specialised in providing training within the sector for over 56 years. The Manchester site is well established as the largest specialist logistics training facility in the UK.
Through our two key brands, The Job Gym and The National Logistics Academy we help thousands of individuals each year to gain new skills. This enables our learners to obtain employment within the logistics sector and drives the long-term growth of the industry.
We work with some of the biggest brands in the country, including Aldi, Wincanton and AO, delivering approximately 400 Apprenticeships, over 2500 Large Goods Vehicle licences and 1,100 Forklift Truck licences each year. The Role
The HR Manager will manage the Group HR function, overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive, high-impact HR service across the organisation. This includes recruitment and retention strategies, organisational development, employee relations, systems improvement, policy development, and performance management. You will additionally drive change and continuous improvement and lead focused initiatives on Health & Wellbeing and Net Zero.
Your duties will include but will not be limited to:
• Designs and implements effective recruitment and talent attraction strategies aligned with workforce planning needs.
• Oversees end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and induction, ensuring consistency and a positive candidate experience.
• Develops retention strategies including career pathways, recognition schemes and feedback mechanisms to improve engagement and reduce turnover.
• Leads the selection, implementation, and optimisation of digital HR systems and tools to improve efficiency and insight.
• Reviews, updates and ensures the consistent application of HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and employment law and develops and embeds people processes across the full employee lifecycle to improve consistency, compliance and clarity.
• Manages the payroll process, overseeing processes between HR and Finance in relation to timely and accurate processing of payroll data.
• Acts in the capacity of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for all staff related safeguarding reports.
• Advises on and manages complex employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence management.
• Keeps up to date with changes in employment law and ensures managers are supported and trained in handling ER matters consistently and with legal compliance
• Oversees the performance management cycle including probation reviews, appraisals and improvement plans.
• Designs and delivers initiatives to promote mental, physical and financial wellbeing across the workforce.
• Maintains oversight of Health & Wellbeing strategy and ensures accessibility of support and resources.
• Champions the organisation’s Net Zero and sustainability goals, aligning people initiatives to environmental commitments.

Education
• CIPD Level 5 or above

Experience
• Experience in a Generalist or Lead Generalist role
• Recruitment, employee relations and policy development experience
• Experience leading or supporting HRIS implementation
• Experience of coaching and developing managers
• Experience of delivering Health & Wellbeing or sustainability initiatives
